Silicon manganese alloy is an alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron and a small amount of carbon and other elements. It is a kind of ferroalloy with wide application and large output. Si-Mn alloy is a compound deoxidizer commonly used in steelmaking, and it is also a reducing agent in the production of manganese metal by low carbon ferromanganese and electro-silicon thermal process. Si-Mn alloy can be smelted in large, medium and small furnaces by continuous operation.

Si-Mn alloys are produced by simultaneously reducing manganese ore (including manganese-rich slag) and manganese oxide and silicon dioxide in silica with carbon in a furnace. The symbol of normal furnace condition in Si-Mn alloy production is stable working current, full load operation, balanced and deep electrode insertion, uniform electrode consumption rate, normal lowering, about 200mm lowering length per hour, good opening of furnace hole, good blocking, smooth iron and slag, high temperature, good fluidability of slag and iron, easy separation. The composition of the alloy is stable. The m(CaO+MgO)/m(SiO2) in the slag is between 0.7~0.8, and the MnO is less than 10%. The composition of furnace gas is normal: O2 is less than 2%, H2 is less than 8%, and there is slight negative pressure (-49Pa) in the furnace, and the temperature in the furnace is less than 600℃.
