Ferrosilicon is an ferroalloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is a kind of ferrosilicon alloy made from coke, steel scraps, quartz (or silica) as raw materials by electric furnace smelting.

Ferrosilicon is often used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking because silicon and oxygen are easily oxidized to form silicon dioxide.
